I’ve Started My New YA Novel

My new work in progress is a young adult novel about two women who lead very different lives and end up finding true love with one another. I’m hoping LGBQT teens and young adults will be able to find hope.

Rosa is a teenager with a secret. She’s very smart and hopes to escape her unhappy home and go to university. Kat also has a secret. She uses her love of sports to mask her insecurity and shame. Their worlds will take them in different directions for most of their lives.

The title is Before They Were Butterflies. The meaning I found online describes my protagonists.

“Butterflies are deep and powerful representations of life. Many cultures associate the butterfly with our souls. The Christian religion sees the butterfly as a symbol of resurrection. Around the world, people view the butterfly as representing endurance, change, hope, and life.

They also embark as a sign of spiritual practice, growth and wisdom. The white butterfly may be a sign that you are on the right path.

Message from angelic world-White butterflies are said to bring message from the angel worls saying that a spiritual change is about to come soon.”
