I just received a phone call that has left me warm and fuzzy. A woman I met in Florida, who just happens to live close to me in Canada read my memoir, Not My Story To Tell, gave it to her daughter, who in turn recommended it to her daughter. The twenty-four year old granddaughter has bipolar disorder, as my daughter, Justine had. She wrote her mother a lovely thank-you note, expressing her gratitude and love, after reading the book. She said she hasn’t told her mother enough how much she appreciated her love and support through her ups and downs.
All three generations loved the book and I’m joyful because this outcome is far beyond anything I could have hoped for. The book has reached the audience it was intended to and all parties enjoyed it. I’ve received overwhelmingly positive feedback and it confirms my doubts about publishing such a personal story.
It is a good feeling when your work touches someone else…..
