I had intended to submit my manuscript for a final edit at the beginning of the week. You can read more about that here. I ran into a few computer problems but my daughter, Candice saved the day. She was able to prod a few more chapters out of me and encouraged me to take a closer look at a few things. At this stage, after working on the book Not My Story To Tell for over two years, I’m so excited to see it published, I’d acted a little hasty. I wanted someone else to fix things but she continued to tell me that I’m the author. It was a tactful way of making me make some corrections and changes.
I called Create Space yesterday and I’m expecting a call from them today. Create Space is the company that makes paperback versions for Amazon/Kindle. I will be sending my word document to them for a second edit. They will also take my book cover and make all three sides also. At first I was prepared to publish an e-book only. Then Amazon offered a paperback option and I jumped at the chance. Holding my book in my hand will be a huge thrill, even though I do most of my reading on my iPad. I like giving my readers two choices.
Having a paperback book will also give me the opportunity to have a book launch. I’m combining it with a retirement party. My husband has reserved a local pub and my principal has offered to help coordinate the retirement party segment. The party/launch will be Thursday, October 26 at the Bulldog Pub, Grandview Street in Oshawa from 3:30 to 7. For people who are not able to physically attend, the book will be available on Amazon. I’ll post the link, as soon as I get it. I’m asking for people to buy my book and share it as a gift to me.
