Tonight I’m going to a Book Launch. I hope to be launching my own memoir, Not My Story To Tell in a few months and I want to gain as much knowledge as I can about what I need to do to be successful. I’ve been to a book launch before and it was a fun event with music and food.
The book was called, “After The Falls” and it was a sequel to Catherine Gildiner’s book, “Too Close To The Falls”. It was held in a big old house that was converted into a pub. The theme was the ’60’s since the setting of her teen years was that era. Hamburgers, french fries and ice cream sundaes were served while the groovy music of the 60’s played. It was a memorable evening. I couldn’t wait to read the book and again I was waiting for the 3rd one. None of them disappointed. I highly recommend them.
I’m not sure what to expect tonight since the event is in an art gallery. This art gallery is an old railway station. It’s quite unique but not really a party atmosphere. I’ve never heard of this author or book so it will be a surprise. I’m going as a research project to see and learn.
My own book launch will be a combination retirement party from my thirty years working as an Educational Assistant and my new career as an author. I have a venue picked out where I’ve held retirement parties before. It’s a restaurant/pub where we can book one section. They serve platters of finger foods and people can buy drinks. Instead of a retirement gift I would give everyone a signed book in exchange for a five dollar donation. Hopefully, they will want more copies for friends and family.
All the best with your plans for the launch.
