I know I’m a little late watching Madmen. I tried watching it years ago but since I was raised in the 60’s and 70’s, it felt too close to home. I just couldn’t get into it. Now that the series is over, I can watch all the seasons straight through on Netflix. I’ve committed to it and am on season four. I love the costumes and sets. So much from that era is recognizable. It’s very true to life. My father was an executive and hobnobbed for business. I don’t believe he bedded every beautiful woman he met, however. He was certainly drenched in the after work and lunchtime drinking. He didn’t smoke either but many of my parents’ friends did. My.mother was a “housewife”, as was expected of her. 

It’s astonishing at how much we’ve evolved since then. The racism, sexism and male superiority was rampant during that time. We’ve come a long way but we still have some improvements to make. Watching that show does make me appreciate living in 2016.
