Today is a Happy Day!

I work in a High School and today is the last day of school before Spring Break! I know many people think that  those of us who work in schools get too much time off but we NEED it! It is exhausting working with kids all day. I work with Autistic kids and other teens who have special needs and although I love my work, I’m ready for a break.

Tomorrow is my grandson’s birthday party for the family. He is turning a year old on Monday. I will be entertaining a fairly large crowd of between 15 and 20 people. Since it is Springlike weather here we have decided to Barbecue hamburgers. My husband Greg is getting the lawn furniture out of the shed and getting the deck ready for an outdoor party. This weather is exceptionally warm for Canada. I wrote about our mild winter in another post. You can read it here.

My sister, brother-in-law and their granddaughter will be spending the weekend at our house. My daughter and grandson are staying over too so it will be a full house, full of activity and kids. I’m looking forward to the fun!

Do you think people who work in schools get too much time off?

  1. Cathy Lynn, NO! (Of course, I’m completely biased, since I work at a college.) There is a huge need to recharge for people who work with/care for young minds.

Your backyard looks beautiful; I hope the weather is gorgeous for your grandson’s special day.

I didn’t realize you work with autistic students; as the mother of a young adult with autism, let me say thank you!

  2. You know I totally agree with you as a middle school teacher. Some people just don’t understand the stress we go through. It allows us time to recharge and still enjoy what we do!
I hope you all have a great time this weekend! xoxo
