I play Lexulous with my mom who lives 150 miles from me. It’s a connection we have online. Lexulous is like scrabble so she takes a turn and then I take one. We usually play once or twice a day whenever either of us gets a few minutes. We don’t have to be online at the same time so it’s great. There is a chat space too so we can leave messages for each other. We’ve been playing for years, either on our computers or iPads. I’ve heard that word games keep the mind sharp so it’s perfect for my 81 year old mother and me.
I also like Mahjong which I also play on my iPad. The real game is played with tiles so the board looks like tiles piled on top of each other with Chinese symbols on them. It’s a matching game and only the tiles on the outside edges can be used. Again, it’s good for keeping my mind sharp and it’s fun. The current one I play is timed so I try to beat my lowest time.
I used to be addicted to FarmVille. It was such a peaceful place to go when I felt my life was spinning out of control when Justine was a teenager. I could escape to my little farm and plant veggies, flower gardens and rearrange my buildings. I still keep in contact with many of my old FarmVille neighbours. Sometimes I miss that game. It really did become an addiction and it was hard to quit.
Do you play any online games?

It’s a good way to connect but my mama, although 81 is more like 60. Shes not your typical 82 year old.

I wrote my blog today on my mother. See if you can find her among her descendants. https://cathylynnbrooks.com/2016/01/07/my-mom/

Mine either. She’s 83 and has to check her calamari to see if she has time to get together and she’s only a block away!

You knew what I was going to answer right? Yep, I always game, whether it be on a dedicated handheld device like a 3DS or the Vita, or on mobile games. It helps me escape, craft, tend my farm, and fight monsters. Love it! By the way, my 82 year old mom still enjoys her mahjong and solitaire on her iPad!

I was waiting for your reply. Do you like FarmVille 2? I downloaded it but all the farms were identical and it just seemed like work, work, and no fun.

Haha, so you had already guessed that I’d respond! Well, I downloaded HayDay on the first day of release, and I haven’t got into any other farm game on mobile since. Not that I play it constantly, just in spurts. But it can be so soothing; when times are stressful, then a little mobile gaming is wonderful. I like your gaming connection to your mom. I tried finding more games for my mom to play, but she tends to stick to what she knows.

My mom and I played Scrabble (real Scrabble) for years so this was a good online game for us to play.

It took my mom a very long time to finally agree to get a computer. She took some classes. She doesn’t really use it for anything other than email and Lexulous.

I did the same kind of games with two of my adult boys until I won too much over them. It was a game on knowledge on many subjects. Thank you for this nice post with the pictures of the games

love the idea of LexuIous, being able to play with someone far away on line and not having to be online at the same time. I will have to get it. Thanks.
