My Great-Grandmother and Me

I bear a strong resemblance to my great-grandmother on my father’s side. My grandmother always said out of all her 5 children and 17 grandchildren I looked the most like her mother. She showed me a picture and I did see what she meant.

 What do you think?

      1. Heredity

        I am the family face;
        Flesh perishes, I live on,
        Projecting trait and trace
        Through time to times anon,
        And leaping from place to place
        Over oblivion.

        The years-heired feature that can
        In curve and voice and eye
        Despise the human span
        Of durance — that is I;
        The eternal thing in man,
        That heeds no call to die.

    Yes you are Cathy! And an attractive one at that.
    This is such a lovely post.

    I remember the day about fifteen years ago when I looked in the mirror and saw my paternal Grandmother’s face. When I spoke of this to my Sister she replied, “Oh, you have always looked like the Massey’s. Everyone thinks so.” But no one had ever said so! I had to grow old before I saw it myself.

    All my best to you.
