My Wild Child!

My daughter, Justine lived large. She did things her way and when she did something she did it in a huge way. There was nothing mediocre to the way she lived her life. She had strong convictions and she stuck by them. She always learned lessons the hard way. She was an individual and she didn’t care what others thought of her.

Justine cared deeply about the homeless, abused women and the mentally ill. She did one high school Co-op placement in a drop in centre for people who live on the street and another in a shelter for abused women. She completed her 40 hours of community service in a soup kitchen where she served food and conversed with the people who ate dinner there. She didn’t just talk about problems, she took action.

She loved her family and friends and was very loyal. She lived by her own standards. As I write about her I’m often reminded of a woman from the Wild West. Annie Oakley or some woman dressed in cowboy clothes with guns comes to mind. She was a person who would not take crap from anyone but had a heart of gold.

As I am writing about Justine I am reminded of her strength of character. She was 29 years old when she was driving home after her night shift and was killed in a car accident a year ago. I want people to know about her amazing life. The book is entitled “Not My Story To Tell”.

  6. I think that what you published was very logical. But, think on this, what if you added a little content?
    I am not suggesting your content isn’t good,
    however what if you added a post title that makes people want more?
    I mean By Her Own Standards | Cathy Lynn Brooks is kinda plain. You ought to peek at Yahoo’s home page and see how they create news titles to grab viewers to
    open the links. You might add a video or a picture or two
    to grab readers interested about what you’ve got to say.

    In my opinion, it could make your blog a little livelier.

    mind. Could it be simply me or does it seem like a few of the comments appear
    like they are written by brain dead visitors? 😛 And, if you
    are posting on additional social sites, I would like to follow
    anything new you have to post. Would you list of every one of all your social pages like your twitter feed,
    Facebook page or linkedin profile?

  12. Thanks very much for your detailed feedback. I’m fairly new to blogging and am taking some workshops to learn how to improve. I really can’t comment on what my visitors have to say but I will take your suggestions to heart and try a snappier title.I will try to find Yahoo’s homepage. I do have my Facebook and Twitter widgets posted. Can you not see them?

  22. So sorry to hear about your loss, I have two daughters myself, with such differing characters. I love how you celebrate and share with us her feisty character on your blog, in such fond remembrance of her, it is very touching. I am sure she was a very special person, dear to your heart.

  24. Love reading your blog ! Justine was taken away too soon and I am glad to get to know her better thru your posts. I unfortunately didn’t get to see her nearly enough. Feisty is a good word to describe her lol. It made me smile . Keep writing Cathy! It’s very good
