The number 29 has significant meaning to me. After all, I was born on the 29th of June. It had even greater meaning when I was married on September 29th. It was by accident that our wedding date was 29/09/79. We had originally chosen September 22 but the hall was booked so we settled on the 29th.

We went house hunting In a little hamlet called Hampton many years ago. We had seen a house in the newspaper and went to check it out. We drove past it but it had no “curb appeal”.

“Now there’s a house I like”, I told my husband, Greg, as we drove down the street and looked at the other houses in the neighbourhood.

Unfortunately the house I liked was not for sale. A few years later as I was looking at the real estate section of the newspaper I saw a house I was sure was the house we had liked that day. We called the real estate agent, went through the house, put in an offer and put our house up for sale. The address of the house was 29 Liberty Street. We have lived here for 22 years.

I always thought the number 29 was lucky. I was told it is lucky in numerology. The number 2 is lucky and when you add 2 and 9 you get 11. When you add the 1 plus the 1 you get 2. Lucky? My opinion changed when my daughter Justine was 29 years old. She was only 29 for six weeks when she was killed in a car accident. The date we had her memorial service was March 29th.

Just like Bipolar disorder, that Justine lived with every day, the number 29 now has opposite meanings. So many good things and the worst possible one. In the book that I am writing about Justine’s life, entitled “Not My Story To Tell” I describe the good times and the bad times.
